After a long trial that lasted for 4 years and a speedy decision by the President of India on rejecting the mercy plea of Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist caught in the 2008 attacks on Taj, Trident and Oberoi was put to silence.
This petition to hang him to death was much awaited by not only the citizens of this country but many others who lived abroad and also those who lost lives while serving their own nation. A nation who may not forget the attacks, but will surely forget those who stood up against a threat to our nation.
First of all I would salute all those who deserve a salute in this episode that occurred on the 26th of November,2008. I would also pay condolences to the families, friends and relatives of families who lost their near and dear ones in this massacre.
On 21st November, 2012 Kasab was secretly hanged at the Yerawda Jail in Pune. Of course, it wasn't a festival that needed to be announced but after the constant media coverage witnessed during the attacks and also in the recent Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray's death I felt more respectful about the whole administration.
To not let out such an important news to anyone except those actually related was a huge task, and the related personnel have outdone themselves by accomplishing the same. to keep such topics enclosed is the need of the hour for the security of our nation and its citizens.
I am also glad that it we showed the basic principle of Human Rights by not letting people witness the death of this terrorist like the entire world watch Saddam Hussain. Or for that matter, U.S lost its credibility when they actually telecast the end of Osama Bin Laden. though a terrorist, he was a human and it is pretty wrong in my view to show someone's death on global television. Its not a show, its a death. I agree that he didn't think while killing thousands, why do we?
But if that's how you're thinking, then what difference is there between you and a terrorist?
How do you call yourself sophisticated and civilized? Tit for tat may be a proverb, it is surely not to be taken as it is in all cases.
Kudos to the Indian Administration, the Judiciary and the Legislative for their utmost care regarding this sensitive issue, which had to be kept a secret from the media, the citizens and everyone.
